Ramsgate Royal Harbour celebrated the 86th anniversary of Operation Dynamo. It was at this site that the Dunkirk ‘Little Ships’ were assembled prior to the most significant colaboration between Naval and Civilian Vessels in history. Operation Dynamo has become legendary for the pluck of these crews in helping to ferry troops stranded at the Dunkirk beaches from shore to ships. 850 civilian craft took part and over a quarter never returned. Heather Dennet and Kevin Finn of the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships joined the Mayor of Ramsgate Rauhsan Ara and the yearly celebrants in helping mark this World Origin Site. Our thanks go to the Ramsgate Royal Harbour committee, The ADLS and RFC113 for their role in marking this site.
Kevin Finn, former ADLS Commodore reiterated : “We are extremely proud of this plaque. I cannot say how proud we are.”
